Dance Your Way to a Healthier Body
Zumba Fitness™ is a dance fitness program that incorporates moves from different Latin cultures and dances including Salsa, Merengue, Cumbia and Reggaeton. Janice Litvin, Zumba instructor for Walnut Creek Recreation, has been teaching for WC Rec for the past 7 plus years. She has always had a passion for dancing and over the years trained with choreographers in San Francisco and Los Angeles and even studied to get her Group Exercise certification from the Aerobics & Fitness Association of America.
Janice has students that have been exercising with her weekly for the past 7 years, but she always gets excited to welcome fresh blood to her class. “I like creating a community so that people look forward to the class, not just for exercise, but because they genuinely enjoy the people,” she says with a smile. She has everyone introduce themselves at the start of a new session and sometimes even organizes a potluck so people get to know each other.
For everyone who has doubts about being able to keep up with the class – have no fear! Janice breaks it down and keeps the steps easy so everyone can follow and join in. “My class is low-impact, but moderate to high intensity, with provided modifications,” she explains. One of Janice’s students shared feedback about her class, “Love the instructor, there is a great atmosphere in the class, and everyone is friendly and inviting. Janice also checks in individually with all of the participants and has made an effort to get to know us all.” For more information click Janice@JaniceLitvin.com. Workplace Wellness Advocate Janice Litvin to Speak at
Annual Bay Area Human Resource Conference, HR West March 6th Workplace Wellness Comes of Age at HR West 2017
Human Capital in the most innovative place on earth
(Oakland, CA) Janice Litvin, local corporate wellness advocate and Zumba Fitness™ instructor is set to speak at HR West 2017, the premier conference of the Northern California Human Resources Association (NCHRA). The conference will take place at the Oakland Convention Center March 6th-8th.
As the wellness profession comes of age many companies have jumped on the wellness bandwagon because they are realizing that “well employees” lead to bottom line savings by reducing absenteeism, enhancing productivity, and slowing the growth of healthcare costs. These companies offer a variety of physical fitness programs and even weight loss, smoking cessation, and mindful meditation programs. But participation is still hovering at only 40%. “We have just begun to scratch the surface with wellness,” says Litvin, “and with some innovative engagement approaches that won’t break the bank, we could go all the way.”
Hence, Litvin’s HR West talk is entitled, “All the Way to Wellness: Filling in the Gaps,” and is scheduled for Monday, March 6th at 10:45 am.
“Companies are a microcosm of society and an important and unleveraged setting for health improvement and risk reduction,” says Dr. Ron Goetzel, a leading expert in the field of health and productivity management. With 150 million Americans going to work every day, corporate America is not only in the best position to change our nation’s health, but has a responsibility to do so.
Janice Litvin works with organizations and corporations who want to get their employees healthy and productive so they come to work every day happy and ready to work. She also motivates people to lose weight through her Lose for Life™ program. Certified by the Aerobics and Fitness Assoc. of America (AFAA), Janice leads Zumba Fitness™ and Body Pump™ classes in Contra Costa County.
The theme for HR West 17 is innovation in the most innovative place on earth. Industry experts from legal, high tech, big data, and more will all be sharing their expertise and talents to bring you the latest innovations in their respective fields.
